Mount Seskin Community College was delighted to launch our offer of hot school lunches, in partnership with Glanmore Foods & the Dept of Education.
Today, First Year students together with our Shaw Class were the pioneers of our hot food offer at MSCC. We were joined by Councillor Mick Duff, Chair of our Board of Management and Mark McDonald, Regional Director at DDLETB who cut the ribbon, marking the first of many enjoyable lunches to come.
Students enjoyed 'tex-mex' chicken fajitas, fusilli pasta with meatballs or a vegetable stew with snacks to complement alongside in our newly refurbished canteen. The sun was bright as groups socialised outside, chatting at our new picnic benches. Maria & Domhnall from our SCP team ran matches a-plenty on the court, keeping students on their toes. Finally, students also made the most of Monday's Rowing Club, took part in performances at Music Club or relaxed in our library.
Ms Ryan, Principal, said 'We are very proud to offer a hot lunch option at MSCC. Vast international research indicates that nutritious lunch improves attendance, increases learning and reduces risk of obesity and poor health. We know our students will make the best of this exciting new chapter in our school'.
Thanks to our staff team who supported the launch in particular Ms Murphy & Mr Ferguson who secured the project for our school and planned our canteen. Thanks also to our Board of Management, DDLETB leadership and of course our parents for their support.
