Pastoral Care at MSCC

Our mission is to provide an inclusive learning environment which promotes academic excellence, built on the personal, social and spiritual development of all.

We endeavour to develop confident, creative life-long learners in an atmosphere of equality, justice and respect.

Underpinning this mission is careful thought about how to support the personal development of our pupils from their first days with us on transition to secondary school.

We plan secondary transfer carefully, working closely with local primary schools and our families to ensure pupils are well prepared, and build in confidence as they begin the exciting challenge of secondary school.

In first year, each class is led by their Class Tutor, and more widely by their Year Head. The Tutor spends time getting to know each pupil in their group well, to support them across school life. The Tutor is the key parent contact, whether to discuss their child’s progress or other aspects of school life.

The Year Head, in conjunction with the Class Tutor, monitors the academic and social progress of each pupil in their group, shapes school assemblies and events for their year and maintains regular contact with parents.
