Since Christmas, students from Second Year have been participating in WRaPparound workshops with returning poet, Dafe Orugbo.
Over the course of three workshops, they wrote their own spoken word verse and raps, while learning about the art of poetry and songwriting in their JCSP Library. The workshops are a fun and safe space for creativity and their work yielded several finished poems across the ground.
On Tuesday 29th April, participating students were able to attend the Showcase event where they had to opportunity to perform their work to audience of students from other schools, poets, teachers and librarians.
The event was very enjoyable with a wide and interesting array of poems and performances on very different personal themes. It was great to give our students a chance to stand on stage, as well as to experience the work and viewpoints of students from other JCSP programme schools all around the country.
Thanks to Mr Doyle, our JCSP librarian for shaping this experience for students.
